Sephora Honey Eye Mask

I'll admit, I haven't been wowed by the Sephora full face sheet masks that I've tried. They've been nice, refreshing, even, but just lacking in oomph. And they left little Sephora S logos all over my face (which amused my husband, but made the end results hard to see). I wouldn't have purchased these on my own and, in fact, have bypassed them many times in the store already, but since they came in my January Sephora Play! box, on my face they went. I washed, dried, and put a conditioning lotion on (more like a thick, hydrating toner here in the US) to keep my skin from becoming overly dry, and applied these cuties.

As you can see, these fabric masks are in a large C shape. By far, this is my favorite shape for an eye mask and I wish it was more common. It makes more sense to me to take care of that entire area at the same time and I know that my temples sure can get a bit dehydrated and crinkly at times. As usual, I left these on until they began to dry (more like 30 minutes instead of the recommended 15). Unless the mask has active ingredients in it that can irritate my skin if left on too long, I always leave a sheet mask on until it is only damp. There was plenty of serum in the packet and it felt a little slimy (as they usually do), but when I tested the dry down on the back of my hand, it wasn't tacky or sticky. I hate sticky mask residue. After I removed them, my undereye crepiness was smoothed and the skin around my eyes was visibly hydrated. More troubling than my usual crepiness, though, was the dry irritation on the tops of my cheeks from a new product I used last night. This eye mask, because it's large and came down to cover the tops of my cheeks, soothed and hydrated that area and it's (almost) as good as new now. I gently massaged the leftover serum into my eye area and applied my face oil to help seal it in. Hours later, as I write this, my skin still looks smoother and more hydrated.

So, the verdict? These are one of the better eye masks I've used, but I'm not sure they're worth $5 a pair when Asia is spoiling us with extremely effective sheet masks at a fraction of the price (you can buy multi-packs for this price or slightly more). Now, if we can get Sephora to come out with a hydrogel mask shaped like this, I might consider paying $5 for it occasionally.

January Play! by Sephora Box

I think the post office was conspiring against me this month. My box has been in town for three days and I've been avoiding Sephora emails and YouTube reviews, trying to keep the contents a surprise. You know I ran outside the second I heard the mail truck drive by!

I almost squealed when I opened it. I'll take skin care over makeup any day...and if I have to have makeup, I'm all about the canvas, so the Clinique Chubby Stick highlighter is perfect. I'm not normally a huge fan of the perfume samples, but this one made the box smell so good...I can't wait to wear it tomorrow.

We have...

  • Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight in 01 Hefty Highlight
  • Tocca Eau de Parfum in Isabel
  • Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Two-step Anti-aging Treatment
  • Dr. Brandt Needles No More Instant Wrinkle Relaxing Cream
  • Sephora Honey Eye Mask
  • Living Proof Prime Style Extender Spray

If I hadn't done the Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle pad this morning, I would have jumped on the Alpha Beta Peel. The Sephora eye mask is exciting--I've used a couple of the full face masks, but never the eye mask, and I love anything honey. I'll be posting reviews as I work my way through these.

October Play! by Sephora Box

My first Sephora Play! box came in! I was worried that I'd get a bunch of makeup that I would never use (I don't do crazy colors). I've really wanted to try something from Boscia, Fresh, and Dr. Jart, so this is skin care box is right up my alley!

We have...

  • Sephora Pearl Mask
  • Dr. Jart Ceramidin Day Tint SPF 15
  • Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Instant Infusion Treatment Toner
  • Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser
  • Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge with Bamboo Charcoal
  • Belif True Cream - Aqua Bomb
  • Atelier Azure -- Mandarine Glaciale Eau de Parfum (the only one I'm not really interested in)

Reviews to come!!
